$6.00
Sold Out

Plant Family: Violaceae

General info: Early profuse bloomers, upright stems with tiny flowers. Tolerates temperature extremes well. A color combination of blackberry, blueberry, coconut, French vanilla, lemon chiffon, lavender ice and more. Excellent in containers and garden beds. Edible flowers and cut flowers.

Typical bloom time: Early summer through early fall. In warmer climates year round. Harvesting tips: Long days and warm temperature cause the elongation of stems and profuse flowering that is required for quality cut flower viola. For compact bedding plants, grow seedlings and young plants at cool temperatures and high light levels to minimize stretching.

Sun, and spacing: Full sun, 6-9” apart Common pests: aphids, gray mold

Other: Edible Flowers: Decorative and edible garnish for salads and desserts with slight wintergreen flavor. While a popular choice for brightening up salad mix, the flowers are also good for candying. At MEVO, violas planted in mid-summer survived the winter and continued to bloom in early March.
