Turning a New Leaf: MEVO 2026

We are raising $30,000 to support our transition to one farm and refocused efforts on other programs.

After eight years, our lease at our second Farm in Mahwah, Lovewell Farm has been terminated as the plot is set for development. We thank the landowners for the wonderful opportunity to engage with the property and turn it into a thriving organic farm with the help of many staff, interns, and volunteers. The silver lining of this loss is the opportunity to expand and revisit our other environmental initiatives. We are raising $30,000 to support our transition to one farm and refocused efforts on trailbuilding, trash cleanups, and restoring a greenhouse.

Since 2017, Lovewell Farm has been an integral part of our Fresh Roots farming program. Lovewell is a historically farmed plot in a residential backyard that was left to collect weeds after farming ceased there in the 1970s. The landowners generously invited us to recreate our efforts at Fresh Roots Farm in their backyard, and we thank them for the opportunity we have had to engage with the property and turn it into a thriving organic farm with the help of many staff, interns, and volunteers.

The loss of Lovewell correlates to a 50% reduction in production and farm volunteer and staff opportunities. Yet with loss comes opportunity. We have several programs that we are excited to grow in 2026: a fall trail building crew, continued trash cleanups on Stag Hill, and repair of a local abandoned greenhouse.
