  • Plant family: Lamiaceae

  • General Info: The sweetest of all the mints. Produces scented bright green serrated leaves all season. Freshly harvested spearmint has aromatic perfume that accents but doesn’t overpower and can be used for salads and cooked dishes. Spreads very quickly in the ground and has deep roots. 

  • Days to harvest: 80-100 days for stem tips and 120-180 bunches

  • Harvesting tips: Harvest right before it begins to flower

  • Sun, and spacing: Full sun/part sun, space 6-8”(15-20cm) in pots

  • Common pests and diseases : Aphids, leafhoppers, thrips, mint caterpillar, mint root borer

  • Other: Harvest frequently to encourage new growth. Can become very invasive if grown outside of pots as it spreads rampantly through underground runners.
