Join us in helping to clean up the area around the Brook School in Hillburn. The Brook School was the first school, particularly in the Northeast, to be desegregated 11 years before the landslide case " Brown vs. Board of Education, yet it is never talked about.
The descendants of the Brook School families are trying to revive the history of the school and make it into a park. While only the foundation remains of the school building, the owner of the Brook School property has permitted us to clean up the area, mainly racking back leaves and clipping saplings.

When 4/27:
10:00am-3:00pm (or until the project finish, it may end early depending on how many hands we have!)
*Please do your best to arrive at the start of the shift and stay the whole time!
Attire: Clothes you can get dirty in and closed-toed shoes
What to bring: A reusable water bottle, lunch and snacks, and gloves (we have some gloves if you don’t). We will have tools, but extra leaf rakes and loppers are always great
