Celestine has been a vegetable harvester at MEVO since April and it’s her first farm job!
Celestine is an Arizona native and used to connect to nature through her studies, work, and off-time, which were all connected to outdoor recreation. In fact, she even has a bachelor’s degree in camping*! She is experienced in backcountry search and rescue, park guiding, and trail working. She eventually got burnt out from seasonal life and now enjoys the comforts of living in civilization.
Due to the declining state of our environment, she finds great urgency in being a steward of our planet and our soils. This call-to-action has led her to a new form of environmental stewardship: learning how to grow delicious and healthy food at MEVO. She believes that food is medicine so it’s important that everyone has equal access to quality nutritious and organic food. She is also passionate about closing the food-to-soil cycle through composting.
When not at the farm, Celestine enjoys rock climbing, riding her bike, exploring New York City, or escaping to be a recluse in the Adirondacks.
