3/11 Gardening 101 Class 1

Join the growers of MEVO in our 7 part gardening series. This course will teach you how to improve your current gardening skills or give you the tools to start from scratch. This course will cover everything from improving soil health to seed selection, to how to preserve your harvest. By the end of the course you will be more than prepared to start out the 2024 growing season successfully.

  • Who is this course for?: New to intermediate gardeners. No prior growing experience is required for this course.

  • Course Format: Online

  • When 3/11:

    • Time: 7:00-8:00 pm

  • Class 1: Overview of the course 

    • What growing zone are you growing in? What implications does that have?

    • Evaluating/ observing your plot (wind, water, sun, shade, pests pressure, runoff), what native or invasive plants are currently growing? What is the soil composition like?)

    • Where to get your soil tested, and why you may want to do that.

    • Types of gardens:

      • Raised beds 

      • Permanent raised beds 

      • Container Gardening
