Nancy Boone is the founder and manager of the Ramsey Farmers’ Market, held every Sunday year-round at the Main St. train station in Ramsey, NJ. Founded in 2010 the market has become a destination for many local residents and market-goers from far and wide. The market serves as a venue promoting environmental sustainability issues, a venue for information for many local non-profits, including health and wellness organizations. Each week features approximately 50 local farmers and food purveyors, children’s crafts, music and local crafters.

Several years ago, the market finally had an opening for one more farm and that, of course, was MEVO Fresh Roots Farm, where each Sunday June-October the staff set up their tables with exceptional, organically grown produce from their fields in Mahwah and Ramsey-always beautifully displayed. How better to have a local market and local farm connecting!

In 2021, MEVO’s Board asked Nancy to join as a member, and she could not have been more honored to have been given the opportunity to do so. Her connections with her previous employer and alma mater, Ramapo College of New Jersey, and local businesses has helped with promotion of MEVO Fresh Roots Farm for their annual Farm Feast. The staff and interns at MEVO work hand-in-hand with the community to make the farm a truly magical experience.

Nancy was the past president of the Ramsey Historical Association and currently serves on the Ramsey Design Review Board and the Ramsey Environmental Commission/Green Team and is looking forward to participating on the MEVO Board for years to come.
